Uses of Skelaxin
Skelaxin is used for treatment of muscle spasms which is a sudden uncontrolled contraction of several muscle groups. Muscle spasms are commonly associated with muscle strain wherein there is a partial tear in a muscle and with muscle sprain wherein there is a partial or full ligament rupture. Several musculoskeletal conditions such as fibromyalgia, tension headaches, myofasial syndrome, and back pains, cause tenderness and muscular pains.

You may not be able to perform several activities when you are taking skelaxin as well as you have other current medications. It is recommended to seek the supervision of your doctor before you start using this drug as well as when you are taking other medicines such as antihistamines, narcotics or pain killers, and other antidepressants because these drugs can interact with skelaxin. Many clinical studies have shown that the skeletal muscle relaxants are more effective than placebo in the treating acute painful musculoskeletal disorders and muscular pains. However, for treatment of chronic disorders, its capability to provide effective treatment is less consistent. When skelaxin is used in combination with an analgesic, the pain relief is much greater than when skelaxin or analgesic is used alone. Studies have proven that skelaxin is effective and causes mild side effects. It can be addition in treating throbbing musculoskeletal disorders with associated muscular pains. However, it is not proven that skelaxin or any skeletal muscle relaxant is better than other muscle relaxants.
