Uses of Retin-A

Retin-A Directions
The product is applied to the face usually before bedtime. The face shall be washed from dirt and tap dried before applying the product. Application of the product on areas of mouth, eyes and nostrils must be avoided. This product must not be used more than it is supposed to be. Increased amount of the product applied in each time will not make the product to work effectively but will only increase the risk side effects. During treatment of acne, the condition of your acne problem will worsen at first but will gradually improve as you continue the therapy. The effects of the product may manifest within three to six weeks of medication.
Retin-A Side Effects
Known side effects of this product may include skin warming, skin irritation as mild stinging and redness as well as slight peeling of the skin. These effects will gradually fade as your skin gets adjusted to the product. Sensitivity to the sun will also be increased with use of Retin-A and this can happen during the time of using the product and may even linger months after the treatment has been over. You must avoid sunlight as much as possible and you should also a strong SPF sunscreen to protect you from the bad effects of the heat of the sun to the skin. It is recommended that you moisturize your skin in the morning after your most recent application.
Retin-A Precautions
Retin-A can increase the skin’s sensitivity to sunlight and temperature. Prolonged exposure to the sun may cause serious effects and can make the treatment much less effective. When using this product, only a mild soap must be used when washing your face. Other skin products such as lotion, cleansers, soap and medicated creams may cause irritations as well. When using other treatments for acne, consult your doctor first for necessary precautions.
Drug Interactions with Retin-A
You should also inform your doctor of other medication you are currently taking to avoid drug interactions. When you are pregnant, use of this product is not recommended because it may pose risk to the health of your baby.
Missed Dose of Retin-A
Talk to your pharmacist if you miss a dose of Retin-A. Do not double a dosage of Retin-A to catch up after a missed dose. Instead skip the missed dose and resume your normal dosage schedule.
Retin-A Storage
Store Retin-A at room temperature away from sunlight. Keep Retin-A and all medications out of the reach of children.
Retin-A Notes
It is acceptable to use cosmetic products while using Retin-A, but make sure skin is thoroughly cleaned before application of Retin-A.
