Minocycline is a form of tetracycline. It is an antibiotic that is prescribed for the treatment of a variety of bacterial infections. Patients who suffer from urinary tract infections, Chlamydia, gonorrhea, and acne are often given Minocyline.

Minocycline Precautions
Mincycline can increase sensitivity to the sun. Use sunscreen and avoid exposure to the sun when possible. You should talk to your doctor before taking Minocycline if you are using birth control pills. This drug can decrease birth control's effectiveness. A secondary method of contraception may be necessary while using Minocycline.
Minocycline Directions
Minocycline should always be taken with a full eight ounces of water. You may take Minocycline with food if stomach upset occurs. Avoid multivitamins, antacids, laxatives, or supplements of iron and calcium within two hours of taking Minocycline as these can interact and reduce the effects of Minocycline.
Side Effects of Minocycline
Some side effects are rare, but serious. Seek medical attention if you experience confusion, symptoms of allergic reaction, headache, yellowing of the skin or eyes, abdominal pain, vision changes, unusual bleeding or bruising, fever, extreme fatigue, genital itching, or genital sores.
The following side effects sometimes occur temporarily. Talk to your doctor is these side effects become bothersome: dizziness, sun sensitivity, stomach upset, appetite decrease, swelling or darkening of the tongue, vaginal yeast infection.
