Uses of Flexeril
Treatment of muscular pains can be effective with this medication when combined with a sufficient amount of rest and physical therapy. Your condition should improve and the pains caused by muscle spasm and limitation of motion should decrease. Physical activities should be lessened if not totally eliminated to allow for proper healing.
Flexeril Directions
Flexeril may be taken with or without food and its use should not exceed more than three weeks. Flexeril is used to treat certain injuries which should manifest improvement in several days and prolonged use of the drug is not recommended. A person who takes Flexeril may suffer from drying mouth. To provide temporary relief, it is recommended to suck a hard candy or put melting ice chips in your mouth.
Flexeril Side Effects
The common side effects of Flexeril are dizziness, drying of the mouth, blurring or doubling of vision, insomnia, agitation, bloated feeling, vertigo, headaches, nausea, sweating, skin rashes and constipation, among many others. These side effects shall be noted by your doctor and must not be taken for granted. Your doctor shall advise you if it is safe to continue with the medication or if it has to be stopped at a certain point.
Flexeril Precautions
For pregnant women, it is strongly advised to seek the advice of your doctor whether you should breastfeed your baby or not. Some antidepressants are known to be excreted in breast milk, which could be hazardous to your baby’s health. If you need this medication, it might be advised to refrain from breastfeeding your baby until your treatment is completely over.
Flexeril Drug Interactions
Flexeril may have an interaction with other antidepressant drugs which could pose serious fatal results. Use of this medication shall be closely supervised by your doctor, especially if you are taking other medications at that particular moment. This medication shall not be taken with alcohol and certain other drugs. Its effects may be greatly altered if combined with other drugs. The effects can be decreased, increased or even altered when interaction between this drug and other substances occur. It is definitely advised that your doctor monitor you from the moment you start using the medication until such time that you will stop its usage, as well as if you are to combine the medication with other drugs.
Missed Dose of Flexeril
When there is a missed scheduled dose, it is not advisable to double your next dose. You may take it immediately if the missed dose is still within an hour from your supposed schedule. If not, just skip the missed dose and continue with your current schedule.
Flexeril Dosage
The usual dosage for an adult is 10 mg to be taken three times a day, and should not exceed 60 mg a day.
Flexeril Notes
Taking this medication may not be effective if not combined with enough rest and proper physical therapy.
Flexeril Overdose
Any drug taken in excessive amounts can pose danger to the person. If there are signs of overdose, you need to seek immediate medical attention. Some of the signs of overdose are muscle stiffness, vomiting, strong palpitations, dilated pupils, agitation, convulsions, congestive heart failures and coma among others.
